Yuan Geng Tay

Irina Botea is an Azure Cloud Engineer at Microsoft, specializing in cloud platforms, data technologies, and customer success. In her role, she partners with organizations to overcome complex technical challenges, enhance platform reliability, and unlock the full potential of their cloud solutions.

Passionate about both cybersecurity and data engineering, Irina actively contributes to the growth of the cybersecurity community beyond her day-to-day responsibilities. She serves as a mentor in the Women in Cybersecurity Program, a Microsoft internal initiative led by the Principal Cybersecurity PM Manager Yuri Diogenes, where she helps aspiring cybersecurity professionals develop technical expertise and investigative thinking. Drawing from her own experience as a former participant in the program, she guides mentees through cybersecurity concepts, threat-hunting methodologies, Kusto Query Language, and KC7 exercises, focusing on building a deep understanding of the underlying principles rather than simply finding solutions.

Irina is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Bucharest, specializing in Data Engineering, where she continues to expand her technical expertise. As she prepares for her thesis, she is exploring topics that bring together her professional and academic interests, focusing on the intersection of cloud computing, data engineering, and cybersecurity, and their role in building resilient, data-driven systems.
